It’s Pride month in Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party presents “Pride in Politics''; a discussion panel with proud LGBTQ2S+ politicians and activists from across Western Canada!  Join us on Thursday, June 10th, 7:00-8:00 pm for Queen City Pride for a virtual extravaganzaThe evening will be moderated by local Drag performer Flo Mingo and features candid discussions, fantastic door prizes and the crowning of the evening’s Pride Gear Enthusiast where a lucky participant will win a gift basket.

Moderated by Flo Mingo.  Flo is a Saskatchewan-based drag artist known for pushing the artistic boundaries in drag, unfiltered opinions and steadfast support of the community.  Flo Mingo is a devoted advocate for LGBTQ2S+ youth and raises thousands of dollars annually for Lulu’s Lodge, a safe space for LGBTQ2S+ homeless youth.

Panellists
  1. Libby Davies: Libby Davies is a Canadian activist and politician from British Columbia.  Before being elected to Parliament, she participated in many grass-roots political organizations in Vancouver, specifically in the Downtown Eastside area., then represented the federal riding of Vancouver East from 1997 to 2015 under the New Democratic Party banner. She was named a Member of the Order of Canada in 2016 and is Canada’s first female MP who is out as a member of the LGBT community.
  2. Jaris Swidrovich: Dr. Jaris Swidrovich (he/him) is an activist, a community builder, and Canada’s first self-identified First Nations Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD). Jaris identifies as Two-Spirit (pronouns: he/him), queer and a person with a disability. Jaris works to create a more inclusive and safe Saskatoon through his previous and current work with Sanctum Care Group, the Saskatoon Community Clinic, as co-founder of YXE Men's Night. Jaris has also been working to make healthcare more accessible to the Indigenous, 2SLGBTQ+, and newcomer, immigrant, and refugee communities, which includes his advocacy work on Health Canada's Canadian Pain Task Force and Health Canada's Expert Advisory Group on a Safer Supply of Pharmaceutical Alternatives to Street Drugs.  If elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Saskatoon West, Jaris would become Canada’s first Two-Spirit MP.
  3. Deanna Ogle: When she isn’t crafting, playing video games or smiting inequality, Deanna is the Saskatchewan Representative at Canadian Labour Congress and co-chair with Rainbow Pride Committee where she advocates for not only LGBTQ2S+ rights and freedoms but also for tangible change in policy, labour reform and equality in the workplace.  She serves multiple roles across many jurisdictions serving as co-chair to the Sask NDP Rainbow Pride wing and is often behind the scenes on successful political campaigns.
