ALL WEEK - Queering the Queen City Audio Tour

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Take a self-guided audio tour of downtown Regina and the Heritage Community, and listen to 10 place-based stories told by queer, trans, non-binary, and Two Spirit people who live in Treaty 4.

You’ll learn about a 2SLGBTQIAP+ BIPOC, non-binary, and women’s skate collective called Femmes Across the Board, Indigenous-led efforts to have the statue of John A. MacDonald removed from Victoria Park, making hair salons more queer and trans friendly, Regina’s first pride parade, which was illegal, the city’s only queer film and performance art festival, Queer City Cinema, a trans woman’s successful human rights case to change the sex on her driver’s license, a Two Spirit group that met between 2017 and 2020, upcoming dance workshops for trans and non-binary folx, and Regina’s first gay bar, which was in a house on Smith Street.

This tour was originally created in 2018 and has been updated and expanded. To make the tour more accessible, we’ve included transcripts for each stop so you can read along (some stories have been shortened due to the app’s word limit). The tour takes about 2 hours to walk and about one hour by bike. If you are unable to take the tour, but would like to listen to or read the stories, send an email to eviejruddy@gmail.com for a direct link to an online version of the tour.
